The cannabis cloning industry has been growing exponentially in the last one decade. Thanks to the pioneers in this industry, today, a lot of resources like books, videos, guides, articles and others are available for beginners. Cloning is not a new concept in crop rearing or in the growth of cannabis. When you need the same strain of cannabis, just clone! Cut a stem, plant it, give it the right environment and it blooms. Sounds simple, but it is actually more complicated than that. Given the right conditions as the parent plant and with the genetic prowess of the parent intact, your clones will do very well. You can make a full garden of cannabis from cloning. You just need one high quality mother plant. From it, you can get several cuttings and grow them. These cloned plants will not be any different from the parent plant. They will share mom’s potency, maturity rate, smell and even taste. However, this is only possible when you give the cloned plants the same conditions of growth as the mother plant. The cannabis cloning industry is rich in information Research! That is where your cloning success starts. Read widely. Do not start your cloning project blindly. Ok, firstly, you want to have the healthiest strain of marijuana around. So you get the best seeds. How do you know they are the best cannabis seeds? From research. Read reviews online. Then you plant your seeds, they germinate. But you do not want to buy seeds next time. You want to “asexually reproduce” your plants. That way, you save money, and time! Thankfully, the cannabis cloning industry is wide and has everything that you need to succeed. The cutting tool You require a cutting tool like a pair of scissors, a sharp knife, a razor blade or a scalpel. Cannabis is very sensitive. Why do you think it is used in medicine, huh? So make sure you sterilize the cutting tool, just rub it clean with a piece of cloth dipped in alcohol. Choose a healthy plant for your cuttings. Remember, the mother plant will transfer some of her mojo to the new plants. So you want one that is robust in health – the right color, the right size and the right age. Ok, now in detail: Make sure the mother plant is 4 weeks old, somewhere immediately before flowering. Make sure she has been growing in less than 18 hours of light a day to delay flowering a bit. Now to the actual cutting Razor blade is ready, sterile and sharp. The mom plant is here, robust of growth and cannabinoids. Where do you cut? Select the branch that is at the lowest part of the plant, close to the bottom. There is a reason for this. Hormones are concentrated at the lower parts of your cannabis plants. Cut at a 45° angle, a sharp angle. If you like, you can label the cutting according to the plant that it came from. Make sure the cutting has sufficient, but few leaves. The more leaves there are, the more the nutrients that it will require. You want just enough for photosynthesis. After cutting, place the clone in your rooting solution immediately. That increases its chances of rooting tremendously. Again, this is where the cannabis cloning industry comes in, to provide you with the right rooting solution. Please avoid the homemade rooting solutions if you’re a beginner cloner. Transplanting your cannabis clones Transplant the cutting, assuming you have already chosen the cloning method. Mostly, there are three of them – potted soil, rockwool and water method. While rockwool and soil work the same way, water cloning is different so you would have to study widely about that. After transplanting, just take good care of your clones by regulating the lighting. Minimal research in the cannabis cloning industry will show you the most popular full spectrum LED grow lights. Place these lights at least 2½ feet away from the clones. Any closer than that and the clones will start flowering too soon. Regulate the humidity too, keep it a bit high so the leaves do not wilt.
